Happy new year everyone! It’s that time of the year again. The stars have aligned and once again I’m reminded that this blog existed. I spent the whole day editing and redesigning everything again, of course. Ah, the good ‘ol days. I do have a few things I can post so I guess we’re back at it again? Going back to writing would take some getting used to, though. It’s been a while. This should be interesting.
Despite leaving this blog dormant for years, in a way I was still blogging through Instagram. Posting photos was a lot easier as I wasn’t in the mood to write (or read!) anything at all. I enjoyed browsing my IG feeds so I spent more time there than any of my other social media. In the latter part of 2018, I started to post some makeup looks on it which inspired me to experiment and practice my makeup skills further. I’ve decided to post them here as well so I could share a bit more of my thought process, observations and things to improve.
Let’s start with this simple everyday look with a pop of color. The lip shade doesn’t translate well in this photo but if you’re familiar with Colourpop’s Wednesday shade you’ll know that it’s this bright pink color. It’s not a shade that I would normally wear but my aunt gave it to me as a gift and it would be a waste not to use it at least once.
As mentioned earlier, the color in this photo doesn’t match up exactly how it is IRL because I edited this photo in Snapseed before posting it. I know there’s a bit of stigma with editing makeup photos so I feel like I have to do a disclaimer. Doing makeup for photos is a whole other thing and I’m far from being that skilled to be able to do it well right now. No shame in editing photos to look better. 😛 How do you edit yours? I need tips badly.
Next time edit makeup photos in a way that it would be close to how it looks in person.
- Careline Best Brow Liner
- EB Advance Eyeshadow Palette (Brown)
- Maybeline Hypercurl Volume Express
- Shawill Sleak Makeup Waterproof Eyeliner Pen
- Colourpop Ultra Matte Lips (Wednesday)
- San San CC Cream
- Nichido Final Powder (Pink Glow)
There are a few more makeup looks that I’ll be posting here this week, and hopefully I’d be able to continue doing them for the rest of the year. I don’t know if I’ll be able to post the new ones here immediately but for sure they’ll be up in my instagram (@simplycaramelle) first so go check it out!
